Chelsea Clinton Biography


Chelsea Clinton was born Chelsea Victoria Clinton on February 27, 1980 in Little Rock Arkansas. She is the only child of the 42nd U.s. President Bill Clinton and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Chelsea Clinton was named after Judy Collin's 1969 recording of the Joni Mitchell song "Chelsea Morning."

Chelsea Attended Forest Park Elementary School, Booker Arts and Science Magnet Elementary School and Horace Mann Junior High School in LIttle Rock while her father was acting governor of Arkansas.

Chelsea arrived at the white house on the day of Bill's first inauguration on January 20, 1993, when she was only 12. Her codename used by the Secret Service was Energy.
While in D.C., she went to Sidwell Friends School and took ballet courses at the Washington School of Ballet. Additionally, she was a chairperson on the board for the School of American Ballet.

In the more recent past, Chelsea campaigned for her mother's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in Iowa before the Caucuses in January greeting potential voters in Des Moines, Iowa. After that, she campaigned for her mother extensively across the country,By early April 2008, she had spoken at 100 college campuses on behalf of her mother's candidacy. During the campaign,Philippe Reines, her mother'spress secretary, often shadowed Clinton during her public appearances, attempting to deflect "...hangers-on, swooning frat boys." Chelsea majored in chemistry with an interest in medicine for two years before switching to history at Stamford University in California.

Chelsea, Clinton was hired by the consulting firm McKinsey & Company in New York City, New York in 2003. In the fall of 2006, she left McKinsey and went to work for Avenue Capital Group, ahedge fund run by Marc Lasry, a donor to Democratic causes and supporter of the Clintons.

Most recently, Chelsea Clinton married Marc Mezvinsky, her long time boyfriend and an investment banker on July 31, 2010. The Chelsea Clinton wedding will take place under a tent at the former estate of John Jacob Astor IV in Rhinebeck, N.Y.
